Last year, the German Longdrive Championship celebrated a successful debut, with a series of eight events, including a PRESEASON, REGULAR SEASON, and the GRAND FINAL. The GLDC is the only tournament in Germany that is officially recognized by the World Long Drive Association. For the first time, in 2019, there were two spots for the World Long Drive Championship available for the best contestants. This made the GLDC a very attractive event for long hitters throughout Europe.
The 2019 GRAND FINAL of the German Long Drive Championship took place on August 10th and 11th in the GolfCity Cologne Pulheim. A total of 52 long hitters and golfers were part of the highlight of the 2019 GLDC Series. Robin Horvath (GER) emerged as the winner from this year’s final after going Head to Head with James Brosnan (GBR). James Brosnan not only finished second, but was also happy about earning a spot for the World Long Drive Championship in the USA at the end of August/beginning of September. Bronze went to Vincent Palm (GER). He defeated the Welsh Bry Roberts in the match for 3rd place. In the women's competition Dutch native Lotte Hoekstra won the duel with Patricia Klemm (GER). The winner showed no nerves and even hit the longest ball in the final with 284 yards. The match for 3rd place was won by Theresa Reil (GER) against Silke Oldenburg (GER).
The REGULAR SEASON Event #5 of the German Long Drive Championship Series 2019 took place at the Golf-Club Burgwedel, near Hanover. Three players participated in the Juniors Competition and 16 players participated in the Division 2 on Saturday 13th July 2019. Martin Borgmeier (GER), who also hit the the longest ball of the day with a driving distance of 365 yards, won Division 2. The German amateur Eike Christian Salzer finished second, followed by Florian Wulf (amateur GER) and James Brosnan (GBR). Division 1 took place on Sunday. The Spanish long drive professional José Quilis won the final against Bry Roberts (GBR) and left the range as the winner of the REGULAR SEASON #5. Martin Borgmeier secured the third place, Jordan Brooks (GBR) made the 4th place. The longest ball of the day was hit by Bry Roberts with a driving distance of 375.6 yards. The end of the REGULAR SEASON #5 event also determined the winner of the GLDC-Ranking. Jordan Brooks finishes at the first place with 270 points. Robin Horvath takes the second place with 250 points followed by José Quilis with 224 points. As Jordan Brooks already owns a ticket to the World Long Drive Championship, the spot goes to Robin Horvath. The Masters Division held its final on Sunday. Marko Mustonen (FIN) won the final against his fellow countryman Jyrki Sytelä and finished first. This secured him a place in the Masters Division of the World Long Drive Championship in the USA. Jens Knoop and Andree Hoffmann (both GER) met in the bronze medal match. Jens Knoop beat Andree Hoffmann with the longer drive to 4th place. Marko Mustonen managed to hit the longest ball of the day in the Masters division with 336.5 yards.
The REGULAR SEASON Event #4 of the German Long Drive Championship took place at the British Army Golf Club Sennelager near Paderborn. Martin Borgmeier, born in Paderborn, won Division 2 on Saturday and beat his competitor Dom Musetti (GBR). Steve Vandebos (BEL) took the third place, followed by Lasse Geertsen (GER), who thus became the best amateur. On Sunday, Division 1 was held. In the final the two German Long Drive Professionals Robin Horvath and Martin Borgmeier faced each other. Robin Horvath left the range as winner and secured his second victory of the season. Paul Woodcock from England finished third, Dewald Lubbe from South Africa came in fourth. Robin Horvath also managed the longest shot of the weekend with a length of 417.6 yards.
The REGULAR SEASON Event #3 of the German Long Drive Championship took place in the Golf Sport Park Groß-Zimmern close to Darmstadt. The German Long Drive Professional Martin Borgmeier won Division 2 in an exciting final against Alain Kornack (also GER) on Saturday. James Brosnan (GBR) won the match for 3rd place against his competitor Timo Petrasch (GER). On Sunday in Division 1 Jordan Brooks (GBR) and Dewald Lubbe (ZAF) faced each other in the final. The British Long Drive Professional Jordan Brooks left the grid as a winner. José Quilis (ESP) finished third and Paul Woodcock (GBR) fourth. With a drive of 408.8 yards Martin Borgmeier managed the longest drive of the weekend.
The REGULAR SEASON Event #2 of the German Long Drive Championship Series was simply impressive. The event took place during the first German Golf Festival at the Gut Häusern Golfpark near Munich in bright sunshine and a good atmosphere. José Quilis (ESP) won Division 2 in an exciting final against Steve Vandebos (BEL). The Spanish Longdrive Professional also managed to hit the longest shot of the day with a length of 389.9 yards. James Brosnan (GBR) came third, while Timo Petrasch (GER) finished fourth. On Sunday the matches in Division 1 were scheduled. Jordan Brooks (GBR) beat José Quilis (ESP) in a very close final with 387 yards and left the grid as a winner. Dewald Lubbe (ZAF) won the match for 3rd place against his opponent Bry Roberts (GBR). On day two, José Quilis also secured the longest shot of the day with a distance of 403.2 yards.
The outdoor season of the German Long Drive Championship Series 2019 has started. The REGULAR SEASON Event #1 took place on the driving range of the Munich Golf Club on April 27 & 28, 2019. Martin Borgmeier, Longdrive Professional from Germany, ultimately won Division 2. He also won the Longest ball of the day with a distance of 421.7 yards. Dewald Lubbe (ZAF) and Alain Kornack (GER) took 2nd and 3rd place. On Sunday the players of Division 1 fought for the victory. German Longdrive Professional Robin Horvath beat the competition and won Division 1. Bry Roberts and Jordan Brooks (both from GBR) finished 2nd and 3rd. Martin Borgmeier secured the Longest ball of the day on day two with a distance of 418.5 yards.
As part of the Rheingolf Fair, the PRESEASON Event #2 of the GLDC series took place in Duesseldorf on the 23rd & 24th of February 2019. 15 European longhitters and three amateurs were competing in the event. Division 2 was held on Saturday. The Longdrive Professional Bry Roberts from Wales beat the competition and won Division 2. Chris Latta (GBR) and Vincent Palm (GER), who hit the longest ball of the day with 422 yards, followed in second and third place. On Sunday, Division 1 took place, for which the four best players of Division 2 and the best seven players of the official GLDC ranking qualified. José Quilis, Spanish Longdrive Professional, won Division 1, followed by Bry Roberts and Matthew Nicolle (both from GBR). Bry Roberts managed the longest shot of the day with a length of 425 yards.
The German Long Drive Championship has officially begun. As part of the "CMT - die Urlaubsmesse", the PRESEASON Event #1 of the GLDC series took place on January 19th in Stuttgart - with a total of 14 European long hitters taking part. After a seeding round the players were divided into Division 1 and Division 2. Jordan Brooks, Long Drive Professional from England came out on top as Champion of the Division 1 category. He also managed the longest shot of the day, the so-called "Longest Ball of the day", with 428 yards. In Division 2 the Belgian longhitter Steve Vandebos won with a distance of 398 yards.
